The History of Olives in South Africa
The growing of olives commercially in South Africa began in 1925 by an Italian called Fernando Costa on his farm โNerviโ in Paarl. Our South African climate is perfect for growing olives due to the mild winters and dry, hot summers. The hot climate stimulates fruit growth, colour development and oil production.
The mission olive, is the most popular cultivar of olive grown in South Africa. It originated in California and is known as a dual cultivar as it is suited to both green and black olive production.

Did you know that natural honey crystallises and that artificial honey normally doesnโt? Itโs all because of the enzyme Glucose Oxidase which is present in natural honey. It removes excess water which can cause crystallisation.
So itโs a good sign if you see that your honey has crystallised! It means your honey is all natural ๐ฏ!
